WHY EKLEKTOS EXISTS
Success is not the destination.
It is the beginning of a greater responsibility.
EKLEKTOS was created around a simple belief: extraordinary success changes not only what becomes possible, but the nature of the questions, relationships and responsibilities that follow.
Most institutions are designed to help people become successful.
Schools educate. Universities prepare. Businesses employ. Investors provide capital. Professional advisers solve specialist problems.
Far fewer institutions exist for those who have already achieved extraordinary things.
At a certain point, different questions begin to matter.
These are rarely questions that can be answered through transactions.
They require people.
Leadership can be lonely.
Family, wealth and responsibility can introduce complexity alongside opportunity.
Important decisions carry greater consequences. Genuine friendships become increasingly valuable. Finding people who understand the circumstances without wanting something from them becomes harder.
And those who appear to have access to almost everything can discover that some of life's most valuable things remain remarkably scarce:
Trust. Candour. Perspective. Friendship. Wisdom.
Successful people already have access to extraordinary advisers, institutions, opportunities and experiences.
EKLEKTOS was not created to replicate them.
It was created around something different: the enduring value of carefully chosen relationships between remarkable people from different worlds.
A founder and an athlete.
An investor and an artist.
A philanthropist and an entrepreneur.
People who may never otherwise have met, but whose experience, judgement, curiosity and character can enrich one another's lives.
Sometimes that creates an opportunity.
Sometimes it changes a decision.
Sometimes it creates a friendship.
There does not always need to be an agenda.
EKLEKTOS exists to cultivate an environment where exceptional people can think openly, share knowledge, seek perspective, contribute to others and enjoy the company of people they respect.
A place where trust is earned rather than assumed.
Where success does not determine someone's importance in the room.
Where relationships are allowed to develop naturally.
Where wisdom passes between industries, cultures and generations.
And where people who have achieved extraordinary things can simply belong.
These principles are not intended to make every Member think alike.
Quite the opposite.
EKLEKTOS should contain different cultures, perspectives, experiences and beliefs.
What matters is the character with which those differences are expressed.
EKLEKTOS is not being created for a single moment or generation.
Its ambition is to build relationships that deepen over time, preserve knowledge that would otherwise disappear and create an institution whose relevance grows rather than diminishes with age.
Its success will not ultimately be measured simply by the opportunities created within it.
It will be measured by the friendships formed, wisdom shared, lives influenced and positive contribution made by those who belonged.
Because the purpose of an institution should extend beyond those inside it.
We believe success is the beginning of a greater responsibility.
We believe trust is earned through character, not status.
We believe wisdom becomes more valuable when it is shared.
We believe meaningful relationships should endure beyond transactions.
We believe every generation has a responsibility to strengthen the one that follows.
And we believe that an institution founded upon integrity, generosity and stewardship can leave the world stronger because it existed.
That is why EKLEKTOS exists.
