Achievement may open the door. Character determines who belongs.
There are extraordinary people in every corner of the world.
People who have built remarkable businesses, advanced human understanding, inspired generations, created lasting change or quietly made an extraordinary difference to the lives of others.
Their achievements may be very different.
Their backgrounds may have little in common.
Yet some share qualities that transcend profession, nationality, wealth and public recognition.
Curiosity. Integrity. Generosity. Humility.
A willingness to share what they know and an appreciation of how much they can still learn.
A belief that the greatest measure of success is not simply what we achieve, but what we make possible for others.
These are the qualities we look for in the people who will shape EKLEKTOS.
Our membership is intentionally limited to no more than 1,000 people worldwide.
Not to create exclusivity for its own sake, but to build a community in which every individual matters and every relationship has the opportunity to become meaningful.
Selecting the right people is therefore one of the most important responsibilities we have.
EXCEPTIONAL ACHIEVEMENT
What someone has achieved tells us part of their story.
EKLEKTOS seeks individuals who have demonstrated exceptional achievement, leadership, influence or contribution within their chosen field.
They may be entrepreneurs who have built globally significant businesses.
Scientists whose discoveries have changed our understanding of the world.
Investors, artists, athletes, academics, innovators or public servants whose work has made a lasting difference.
Others may have devoted their lives to philanthropy, education or the advancement of their communities.
Some will be internationally recognised.
Others may be largely unknown beyond the people and organisations whose lives they have influenced.
There is no single definition of an extraordinary career or life.
What matters is the significance of what someone has accomplished, the experience they bring and the perspective they can share.
Achievement begins the conversation. It does not complete it.
FINANCIAL STANDING
Wealth may reflect achievement. It does not define character.
EKLEKTOS is designed primarily for individuals of exceptional achievement, influence and financial standing.
As an indicative guide, prospective Members would ordinarily be expected to have a personal net worth exceeding £100 million.
This reflects the community EKLEKTOS is seeking to bring together and the particular opportunities, responsibilities and perspectives that may accompany significant wealth.
But £100 million is not a qualification for Membership.
Financial standing alone will never guarantee an invitation.
Equally, individuals who do not meet this indicative threshold may be considered where their achievements, character, experience, influence or contribution to society are exceptional.
A pioneering scientist, an extraordinary cultural figure, an influential thinker or an individual whose work has transformed lives may bring perspectives and relationships of immense value to the institution.
The Founding Council will retain discretion to consider every prospective Member on their individual merits.
The question is not simply what someone possesses. It is who they are and what they could bring to the community.
CHARACTER COMES FIRST
The way we treat people matters more than the titles we hold.
EKLEKTOS is built upon the belief that exceptional achievement and exceptional character are most powerful when they exist together.
We look for people who demonstrate:
- Integrity: The courage to do what is right, including when nobody is watching.
- Humility: Confidence in their achievements without a need to diminish others.
- Discretion: An understanding that trust depends upon the careful treatment of personal relationships and private information.
- Generosity: A willingness to share knowledge, experience, encouragement and opportunity.
- Curiosity: An open mind and a genuine interest in people whose lives and experiences may be very different from their own.
- Respect: The ability to listen, disagree thoughtfully and treat others with consideration.
- Kindness: An appreciation that how we make others feel is as important as what we accomplish.
These are not qualities that can always be established through a professional biography.
They are revealed through conduct, relationships, reputation and the experiences of those who know someone well.
We are interested not only in what people have achieved, but in how they have achieved it.
A SPIRIT OF CONTRIBUTION
The most rewarding communities are built by people who give as well as receive.
EKLEKTOS is not looking for Members who are identical in their interests, ambitions or circumstances.
Nor do we expect everyone to contribute in the same way.
One Member may offer an invaluable perspective on a difficult decision.
Another may introduce two people whose shared interests lead to something extraordinary.
Someone else may mentor a young entrepreneur, support an important cause or simply become a trusted friend during a challenging period.
Often, the most meaningful contributions are neither public nor measurable.
They happen quietly, through relationships built on mutual respect.
We value individuals who recognise these possibilities and approach membership with a spirit of openness and generosity.
Not because contribution is an obligation to be recorded.
But because helping one another is part of what makes belonging worthwhile.

We want EKLEKTOS to reflect the richness of human experience.

We are not seeking agreement on every subject.

THE INVITATION PROCESS
An invitation is a beginning, not a reward.
Membership of EKLEKTOS is extended through personal invitation.
There is no automatic entitlement to join, regardless of wealth, professional standing, public recognition or personal connections.
Prospective Members will be considered carefully, with attention to their achievements, character, reputation, values and the contribution they may make to the community.
The process is intended to be thoughtful, discreet and personal.
We recognise that no selection process can reduce a person to a checklist.
Nor can the qualities that make someone exceptional always be captured in a professional biography.
That is why judgement, trusted relationships and genuine conversation will remain central to the way EKLEKTOS selects its Members.
Our responsibility is not to fill 1,000 places as quickly as possible.
It is to bring together the right people, one thoughtful invitation at a time.
THE PEOPLE WHO WILL SHAPE EKLEKTOS
The institution will ultimately become a reflection of those who belong to it.
Years from now, the true measure of EKLEKTOS will not be the prominence of the names on its membership register.
It will be found in the quality of the relationships formed.
The trust that develops.

And the difference those relationships make beyond the institution itself.
