THE NAME
From the Ancient Greek eklektos, chosen, selected, distinguished.
The name reflects a founding principle of the institution.
Membership is not determined by wealth or status alone, but by character, achievement, judgement and the contribution an individual can make to the lives of others.
To belong to EKLEKTOS is to have been carefully selected.
OUR FOUNDATIONS
GOVERNANCE
EKLEKTOS is being established with a formal governance structure designed to protect its purpose, standards and long‑term independence.
Responsibility for the institution extends beyond its founder.
Leadership, governance and Member representation are designed to provide accountability, challenge and continuity as EKLEKTOS develops.
No individual should ever become more important than the institution itself.
MEMBERSHIP STEWARDSHIP
Selection does not end when somebody becomes a Member.
The culture of EKLEKTOS depends upon every Member respecting the standards upon which the institution was founded.
Membership is personal and non-transferable.
Privacy and discretion are expected.
Unsolicited commercial approaches are not part of the culture.
And membership carries responsibilities as well as privileges.
The purpose is not to create rules for their own sake.
It is to protect trust.

The limit protects something that scale inevitably erodes: the ability for an institution to genuinely know the people within it.
It allows introductions to remain thoughtful, relationships to remain meaningful and membership to retain its character over time.
The number is not a marketing device.
It is part of the institutional design.
PRIVACY & DISCRETION
EKLEKTOS is intended to be an environment in which Members can speak candidly, ask difficult questions and develop relationships without concern that their conversations will travel beyond the institution.
Member privacy, confidentiality and discretion are therefore fundamental principles.
Technology will be designed around those principles.
So will the culture.
Because trust takes years to build and moments to lose.
BUILT BEYOND ITS FOUNDERS
Founders create institutions.
Future generations determine whether they endure.
EKLEKTOS is therefore being designed so that its philosophy, standards, institutional knowledge and culture can survive changes in leadership and ownership.
Over time, today's Members will become part of its history.
